Battling Drinker's Fatigue
Posted on 2/5/2013 by Chops
Explore the craft beer world for long enough and you will encounter an unfortunate inevitability. It goes by many names, but the most commonly used phrase is "Drinker's Fatigue".

No, this isn't the last few beers of a mindless bender, nor is it a bunch of frat boys trying to polish off a keg at 4 in the morning. This is the point of time in a craft beer journey when high quality beer seems to lose its excitement. You start looking for beers with wild ingredients or long unnecessary names in a futile attempt to reignite the passion. Triple Bacon Honey Watermelon IPA? Meh. Bubba Joe's Wild Ride of Smokey Banana Cream Wonder Hops? Meh. You simply hit the snooze button and go back to your handful of reliable staples.

But every now and then, a beer will come along that slaps you across the face and yells "beer is still awesome you ungrateful prick!" They have the power to knock you out of that boredom funk and reinvigorate your sense of craft beer wonder. I experienced one such beer not too long ago when I opened my first bottle of Founders KBS. It was a revelation. It made me feel like a budding craft beer fan again. My beer geek drive suddenly returned and I wanted to gleefully explore the beer store again.

So, I thought it would be fun to open up the Drinker's Fatigue discussion. What were some of the mind blowing beers that knocked you out of boredom slumps?
