Great
The warmer months are now officially on us in full force and I highly doubt that any of you would argue with me there. But if I were to ask you what beer provides the most enjoyment during these toasty days, a mind-numbing discussion would erupt that could literally go on for hours. I could even make it a more broad question and just pick your brains over what style of beer is most suited for this time of year, and again we would be engaged in a pointless debate. However if you were to twist my arm (and I highly suggest you not do that unless you enjoy getting poked in the eye with a rusted shovel), I will admit that there is one springtime beer I always look forward to: the Whirlwind Witbier from Victory Brewing Company.

In the glass, Whirlwind has a slightly hazy, but bright straw yellow coloration with a fluffy, bright white head that provides spotty lacing throughout the session. Big notes of clove, ginger, coriander and orange juice are what first greet you from the glass. If you give them a few moments to calm down, you can detect more subtle hints of pepper, lemon zest, and sweet Belgian yeast dancing around. Everything in the nose points to it being bright, crisp, and clean. I don't want to go spoiling the rest of the review, but what the nose points to, the taste buds completely agree with.

The first taste of it has a nice little spice tingle to it, with clove and ginger seeming to be the parties of guilt. They tend to give way slightly to a watered down orange and lemon juice mix with a hint of white pepper tossed in to keep your tongue guessing. There are moments where Whirlwind seems to have a creamy aspect to it, but thanks to the continuous spice tingle, it only comes across as an interesting twist. If you dig really hard you might be able to pick up on a faint malted grain flavor laying underneath everything else, but missing it doesn't hurt your overall experience of the beer. The carbonation is ample and lively, and adding it to a clean and slightly dry mouthfeel makes for an all around great brew session.

So while I do get the allure of bar banter over what beers are better than others, and why you should drink some beers in certain seasons, one thing that isn't up for debate is the awesomeness of the Whirlwind Witbier. It is packed full of flavor, but still remains very crisp and refreshing for those who absolutely must have that in a spring seasonal. In Whirlwind, Victory Brewing Company has managed to make one of those rare ''its good for everybody'' beers. Everyone from better beer rookies to seasoned veterans can, and should enjoy it. It has always been a personal favorite of mine, and once you try it, I have a feeling it will probably make your list as well.
